Booming Games has extended its reach across Eastern Europe by securing the ‘significant milestone’ of a provisional licence for the Romanian market.

The studio will soon tap into Romanian audiences for the first time after acquiring a B2B gaming licence from Romania’s Gambling Authority – Oficiul National Pentru Jocuri De Noroc

With this licence, Booming Games can offer its complete catalogue of igaming content to operators within the nation, as the supplier looks to ‘open doors to new opportunities in the broader European market’.

Frederik Niehusen, Chief Commercial Officer at Booming Games, commented: “We’re thrilled to announce that we’ve obtained a full Romanian B2B gaming licence. This exciting development allows us to expand our presence in the rapidly growing Romanian market.

Romanian players will soon be able to access Booming Games’ slot releases such as Burning Classics, TNT Bonanza, Cash Pig, Buffalo Hold and Win and Gold Gold Gold.

Niehusen added: “With this achievement, we’re well-equipped to build on our strengths and enhance our product offerings to better serve the needs of our customers.”

April has been a busy month of new market entries for Booming Games so far, having recently celebrated its approval for Portugal’s growing igaming space.

Weakness in the Nordic countries, and primarily Sweden, has resulted in casino content developer NetEnt reporting declining revenues for the second quarter on the year.

Also issuing a H1 update, NetEnt’s report shows that 4.1 revenue decline in Q2 from SEK 437m (£37.1m) to SEK 419m (£35.6m) contributed to a 3.4 percent drop during the year’s first half, with figures falling from SEK 867m (£73.7m) to SEK 837m (£71.2m).

Driven by fewer players and lower ARPU since the new regulation was introduced at the beginning of the year, outside of the Swedish market, in the 23 jurisdictions that the firm has a presence, revenue grew 1.7 per cent, primarily due to a strong performance in New Jersey, Eastern Europe, Spain and Portugal.

Therese Hillman, group CEO of NetEnt, explained: “The weak development in the Nordic countries continued in the second quarter, particularly in Sweden, where we have seen fewer players and lower ARPU since the new regulation was introduced at the beginning of the year.

“Looking ahead, we continue to invest in increased game production, a technical platform featuring more functionality, and live casino, in order to defend, and over the longer term increase our market shares in all our markets.”

Operating profit for the first half of the year came in at SEK 256m (£21.7m), an almost ten per cent drop from SEK 283m (£24m), with its second quarter 12.7 per cent dip, to SEK 130m (£11m) from SEK 149m (£11.4), said to be impacted by legal costs as the company “took action to defend the IP rights of one of its most important games”.

The number of game transactions amounted to 10.6bn in the second quarter, representing a decrease of 1.3 percent as compared to the same quarter last year, with mobile games accounted for 64 per cent of game win in the period, up from 58.2 per cent.

Slot games accounts for the majority of the figure with 91.8 per cent, table games made up 7.8 per cent, with the rest accounting for the remaining 0.4 per cent.

Taking a peek at long-term growth strategies, Hillman stressed that live casino is very much falling on the radar: Now we take the next step in developing our technical platform as we are creating an open platform with new types of functionality and aggregation of third-party content for operators, services that will be launched on a broader scale during 2020.

“The transformation of live casino continues at full speed and we added several new functions during the quarter to make our product more competitive. The customer response is positive, and we expect growth in the coming quarters from this segment, but it will take a few more quarters before we can see more meaningful revenues.”

Expanding its range of online slot and video bingo games alongside MGA, the company also welcomed content  from online slot developer AGames as part of a further distribution deal.

Most recent online casino game development studio BeeFee saw its full portfolio of games go live with the operator.

The integration encompassed all BF Games being made available for 1XBet players, including recent releases Lucky Symbols, Bonnie & Clyde and 3D slot Aztec Adventure.

The 1xBet offering is built on the BetB2B platform, giving the operator a full suite of sports betting and gaming content, with BeeFee, meanwhile, recently gaining a Malta gaming licence, which adds to the licences it holds in the UK, Latvia and Montenegro.

Jane Polushkina, account manager at 1xBet, said at the time: “We are delighted to announce the completion of the integration with such a powerful and fast-growing game provider as BF Games, and are proud to announce that their high-quality games have appeared on our website.

Malta headquartered gaming content developer Betsoft Gaming has enhanced its geographical expansion, after signing a new agreement with SoftGamings.

Increasing its reach in a range of regional markets within Eastern Europe as a result of the deal with the online casino solutions developer, the agreement has also laid foundations to cover further content in the future.

Under the terms of the new partnership, All Betsoft titles from its Slots3 series are included, giving SoftGamings’ players “access to recent innovations as well as established hits that have proven popular inside and outside Europe”.

Annamaria Anastasi, marketing director for Betsoft, commented: “Like many multi-market casinos, SoftGamings is constantly seeking the best content the igaming industry has to offer, ready for use in the right jurisdictions.

“With one of the world’s strongest, most diverse libraries of traditional slots, table games, and new innovations, certified for more than 15 markets, Betsoft were able to address all of SoftGamings’ requirements.”

Riga, Latvia-based SoftGamings is aiming to strengthen its presence across Central and Eastern Europe as part of the deal, and follows up on a recent agreement reached alongside Play’n Go.

“We consider Betsoft to be one of the most successful content providers in the entire industry,” says Svetlana Gasel, SoftGamings’ head of partnerships. “We are thrilled to be able to add their cinematic content to our portfolio, and we look forward to strengthening our partnership and seeing even greater value from new content in the future.”

This follows a recent agreement reached with Equinox Dynamic, which saw Betsoft increase its reach within Scandinavia and Germany via the firm’s Nordicasino brand.

“As a firmly established presence in Scandinavia and throughout Europe, Betsoft was in a strong position to be able to provide precisely what Nordicasino needed: a comprehensive library of cinematic content, available in the right regulated markets.”

“When we canvassed for the best content the international igaming market had to offer, we kept coming back to Betsoft,” added Arik Weiss, Equinox’s chief marketing officer.
